5-18 Husets

It was a pretty good night for us at Husets.  We had the car pretty good all night, and had the fastest car once again, but as they say, "The fastest car doesn't always win".  The track actually started to take rubber close to the cushion, and we could only manage a second place finish after starting 11th.  We're pretty happy with the way it turned out.  The car is in one piece and we didn't have any problems.  We're supposed to have our other engine back this week, and we'll probably run it to make sure everything is alright with it, and then we'll see what happens from then on.  Hope to see everyone at the races!

Husets Results

It was a decent night overall with a heat win and second place run in the feature.  We had our car pretty tight, so we couldn't roll the track like we really wanted or needed to.  Jody did a good job with what he had to work with, and we actually took the lead.  Our lead gave way though when Jody was coming through 3 and 4 and Brock Dump came under us.  Jody could have tried to run around him, but thought better and brought the car home.  It was a great race with Cody Hansen right in tow as well.  You win some of those races and you lose some of those races, and it was our turn to lose one.  We'll see if we can't get him a better car next time, and things could turn out better.  Everyone have a great week!

Sometimes it just isn't your night

I was pretty nervous about racing going into last night after all the engine woes we'd had at the end of last year, and wondering if we'd found them.  I'm confident we're back in the game though now!  All in all we're pretty happy with our performance last night.  Gremlins forced us to a bad finish with one of the best cars on the racetrack.  We drew well, so we were able to start on the pole of the heat which we won, and we started 3rd in the dash after the redraw.  That's when things took the turn.  We blew a line for our wing slider right away and lost power steering, so Travis pulled in not wanting to wreck anything.  That saw us starting 10th behind a very good field of cars.  Right away we were pretty tight and ran alright, but weren't lightning fast.  The red came out for a violent crash (Mike Sitzmann and I hear he's alright, but sore), and we made a few adjustments and that's when the car came alive.  Moving into 4th on lap 14, the mag cap caused the engine to just die and unfortunately for Chuck Swenson it was right in front of him.  I feel bad anytime we get involved in something and we're kind of the cause of it.  He had nowhere to go, and ended up flipping.  The car wouldn't refire so we knew we had a problem.  It's pretty heartbreaking knowing your lap times (people in the stand taking lap times gave us this information, so I can't be sure....but I'll take their word for it) are the best on the track only to have something like that happen.  Apparently in the heat we were a second faster than anyone else that hit the track in the heats, and in the feature we were a tenth faster than anyone else, so we know we're going good right now.  It's on to Huset's tomorrow night, and we'll see if we can pull another win out.  See everyone at the races!

Finally some racing in the area

It's about time the weather straightened out enough for us to get some racing in the area.  We were pretty good at Husets last night, and pretty lucky as well.  Starting outside the first row of the heat race, we managed to get a decent start and win decisively which gave us the 3rd row inside starting position for the feature.  That's where it gets interesting.  The first lap, the car starting in front of us (which we dove under going into the first turn) spun causing a big pile up in turn 1 and 2.  The restart saw us starting outside second row, and inside of 2 laps Jody was able to make his way to the lead.  While passing a few lapped cars, one of them spun and almost collected us.  It was a nice piece of driving on Jody's part and he kept from getting the car tore up.  It looked as if we were going to have some pretty stiff competition as Cody Hansen and Casey Abbas were coming strong mid race.  Following a few cautions, we stayed out in front for our first win of the season (hopefully not the last).  It's always nice when you can get that first win under your belt early in the year to start everything off on a good note.  Nice runs by the two mentioned above, and they're going to be ones to look out for as the year progresses.

Next up:  Jackson this Friday with Travis Whitney driving, and most likely Husets again with Jody.  See everyone at the races!

Start to the schedule

We're planning on racing in Cedar Lake Saturday the 26th, and then Huset's opener.  Our next show as of now will be the Jackson opener, and after that it's a wait and see deal.  Travis Whitney will be at the wheel in Cedar Lake with Jody Rosenboom running at Husets.  We haven't decided who'll we'll have at Jackson yet, but we'll see what happens here soon.

Just a bit of information....but not alot

It seems I say that about every time I post this time of year.  As I said in an earlier one, this time of year is pretty boring in the racing world.  We did a little engine work this past weekend, and managed to get one motor running pretty good, so we're excited about that.....however the other one just isn't looking all that good.  We decided to get a little head work done, and hope to bring it back to life again.  That engine is actually supposed to be our best one, but something is wrong and hopefully it'll be back up to snuff when it's done.  The cars are done....just a minor amount of painting and lettering one body and we're ready to be off and running.  Randy asked a question a few days ago about our schedule, and we're still up in the air as of yet.  I do know we'll probably be at Husets for a few shows early in the year.  We'll possibly be at Cedar Lake for their April sprint show, and most likely at Jackson for their opener.  Outside of those shows, we have no plans as of yet.  I'm sure as weather warms up, and racing begins we'll get a little bit pumped up about racing and start hitting shows frequently.  That's all I have for now.....hope for some news to give you soon.

It's Been a While

Sorry for so long between posts.  There really hasn't been much news to talk about....just like every off season.  Then something extraordinary happened.......rumors floating everywhere.  I'll leave it at that.  If they're true people won't believe them....if they're not, people will believe they are.  Either way, rumors are good for exposure!  I promised some pics earlier too...but I just haven't had much time lately for anything.  I'll do my best to get something together when I can find the time.

Small update

Things are moving along nicely in the shop for us.  One car done and the other in the process of being ready to go.  Still not sure of what the schedule will be for the year, but we'll plan on racing 20 or so times atleast.  No major changes to anything really.  Hopefully we'll be able to update a few things as schedules and such come out for the year.

Something new, but not racing related...

In the links section I'm starting a new blog.....just getting opinions and thoughts out there.  If you're interested feel free to check it out.  I'll warn you though; it's opinionated and many people may not agree with me, but you may get a kick out of it as well!  As always, comments are welcome.  Everyone have a great day!

A reply for a few of the comments below

First off, thank you for all the kind words.  Dave and Chelsea we'll be in your neck of the woods next weekend.....looking forward to seeing you there!  Getting on to the Chad Meyer comments......and I'll try to explain a few things as well.  I think Chad would be a great fit for our team.  I've gotten to know Chad over the last year or so and I think he's an awesome person as well.  If the sponsor money was enough to field a competitive car full time we'd certainly look into that situation.  It's just so tough anymore to put a car out there week in and week out.  The biggest reason we haven't committed to a single driver at this point is this; I don't want to put someone into a position where we only race 15-20 times and they want to race all the time.....ya know?  Right now I think that a person who has something to race, and will race for us when we'd like to race is the best fit for all of us.....but boy let me tell you, if the money was there we'd race 100 times a year!  Anyone with a big bankroll listening??----just kidding!  Hopefully this will shed a little light on the situation.  Trust me, your comments and suggestions don't fall on deaf ears!
